Althingi's Independent Monitoring Body
Rikisendurskodun (The Icelandic National Audit Office) is an independent body operating undir the auspices of the Icelandic Parliament, Althingi. It is a part of the legislature and its monitoring of the executive branch. Its main role is to audit the financial statements of central government bodies, monitor and promote improvements in the financial management of the State and in the use of public funds.
